The playing court is rectangular in shape and it is divided into two halves by the net. Usually courts are marked for both doubles and singles. Although the double court is 3 feet wider than the single one, the length remains the same to 44 feet. The only confusion with the area lies for a newcomer is the difference between the serve-length dimension of the two courts. The height has not been mentioned in the book of laws for Badminton, but the ceiling is kept such that the long serve is not disturbed by it.
