Badminton – a racquet sport

Badminton is a kind of sport that has been around since the mid- 18th century and badminton was incorporated into the Olympics in 1992. This game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net and the game is played using racquets and a shuttlecock. It is a highly skilled sport and the strokes used by a player are mainly of two types, the forehand stroke and the backhand stroke. It can be played either in singles or in doubles. Mixed doubles format is also played .Some of the important prevalent badminton tournaments of present times are the Badminton Asia championships, European Badminton championships, America Badminton championships.
